Thank you Don and Liora for hosting a great 2019 meeting!

The Boston Ithaca Islet Club is a longstanding tradition in the Northeast region, founded and maintained by a group of top scientists in the islet field. Our 2-day annual meeting is a remarkable open forum, with talks on unpublished, cutting-edge work from trainees through senior investigators, and a warm, collegial interaction that cements friendships and boosts collaborations. The meeting is free of charge to registrants to encourage participation at all levels from student to principal investigator. We invite you to join us!

The Islet Club thanks our previous host, Dr. Alonso at Umass!

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together students, postdoctoral fellows, scientists and physicians from academia and industry on the east coast for an informal meeting focused on islet biology and the regulation of glucose homeostasis in the context of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes and obesity. Scientists in Boston and Ithaca founded the club in 1992, and an annual meeting has been held every year since then. We attract attendees from Massachusetts, New York, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Montreal, Rhode Island, Toronto and even the NIH.

Short talks are presented both by trainees and by established investigators, with lots of time scheduled for Q&A. This provides an excellent forum for students to present their raw, unpublished data to peers and leaders in the field, providing a chance to obtain valuable feedback for their project and the opportunity to network. The networking is enhanced by a dinner on Saturday evening. Over the years we have obtained consistent feedback from attendees that they enjoy this informal gathering for excellent science and networking opportunities.
